Agreement

Accepting these terms

Welcome to Commercial Fishing Flies. These terms and conditions set out the rules for using our website at www.commercialfishingflies.com and for buying wholesale and bulk fishing flies from us.

By browsing this website you accept these terms. If you do not agree with any part of them, please stop using the site — we would rather point you to a supplier who can help than have a misunderstanding later.

In these terms “Client”, “you” and “your” refer to the person or business placing the order. “The Company”, “we”, “our” and “us” refer to Commercial Fishing Flies Limited. Any use of these words, in the singular or plural and regardless of capitalisation, is interchangeable.

The catalogue

Products, prices and availability

  • All flies are hand-tied in our Nairobi workshop. Patterns shown in photographs are representative; natural materials such as hackle, dubbing and wing cases vary in shade and movement from batch to batch.
  • Prices are quoted per dozen and are exclusive of any duty, import tax or clearance charge levied by the destination country. Buyers outside Kenya are responsible for those costs.
  • We sell wholesale and bulk. Minimum order quantities apply to some patterns and are confirmed with your price list.
  • Stock levels fluctuate, and a pattern shown on the site may be temporarily unavailable. We will tell you promptly and offer an equivalent alternative where one exists.
  • Hooks are barbed unless you ask otherwise in writing, and barbless hooks are supplied on request at the quoted price.

Orders

How orders work

  1. Enquiry or order

Send us the patterns, sizes and quantities you need, or order from the shop. We confirm availability, the agreed per-dozen price and a dispatch estimate.

  2. Payment

Payment is due before tying begins unless we have agreed credit terms in writing. Work enters the queue once payment is received.

  3. Tying and dispatch

Flies are tied, inspected and packed, then handed to the courier and tracked. Dispatch normally takes one to fifteen days depending on order size and pattern complexity.

  4. Delivery

Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery. Please see Delivery & Shipping for courier options and freight charges.

Custom work

Custom-tied flies

Custom orders are tied to your specification. A physical sample, a photograph or a clear written description is all we need to begin. Because custom ties are made for you alone, they cannot be resold and are therefore not returnable unless they are faulty or differ from the agreed specification.

Full detail is on our Custom Flies page.

Returns

Faults, returns and refunds

Report faults within three days

Notify us within three days of receiving the consignment if anything is faulty or damaged on arrival. The item must be returned unused, in its original form. We will then send a free replacement or revise the invoice to deduct its value.

Product that has been used — fished, handled as a display sample or worked — cannot be accepted back as a return. If you are unsure about a pattern before ordering, ask us for a sample; we would always rather tie you one than process a return.

Payment

Payment arrangements

We accept PayPal, credit and debit cards, bank transfer, Western Union, Moneygram and Bitcoin. Terms of payment are set out on our Payment page, and the agreed method is confirmed in writing with your first order.

All prices are quoted exclusive of taxes unless we expressly state otherwise. Prices can change, but an order is accepted at the price confirmed with you.

Intellectual property

Ownership of our designs

All designs, patterns, photographs, text and artwork on this site and in our catalogues belong to Commercial Fishing Flies Limited or are used with permission. Patterns that we design are our own and may not be copied for commercial production elsewhere without our written agreement. You are welcome to tie our patterns for your own use or to resell the flies you buy from us.

Liability

Limits of responsibility

We supply fishing flies and related materials. We take care in the way we tie and pack our product and we stand behind it, but we cannot be responsible for the outcome of a day's fishing, for the choice of a pattern for a particular water, or for losses arising from delay or failure in the courier network beyond our control.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any matter that cannot lawfully be limited.

Governing law

Law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Kenya, and any dispute arising out of them will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Kenyan courts.

Contact

Questions

If anything here is unclear, or you would like a term explained, email sales@commercialfishingflies.com or write to us at Mombasa Road Mall 457, Nairobi 00200, Kenya. We would always rather talk it through than argue about it later.

Wholesale buying guide

What our trade customers say

Trusted by tackle shops, lodges, guides and distributors worldwide

"We supply six tackle shops in Texas and Commercial Fishing Flies has been our main bulk source for two seasons. Every dozen arrives boxed, sorted by size and ready for the wall."
Dale Rutherford
"Five hundred dozen assorted nymphs for our spring promotion, delivered in eleven days and landed 38% under our old wholesaler. The margin made the season."
Priya Raghavan
"The custom tying service keeps us loyal. We send a photo of a discontinued pattern and get back twenty dozen that match the original."
Gavin Mbeki
"Our lodge on the White River burns through sixty dozen a month. At that volume only consistency matters, and they have never sent a weak batch."
Carol Stanton
"First wholesale order was 40 dozen streamers for the pike season. Hooks are sharp, eyes are epoxied properly and the tails do not foul."
Lars Ostergaard
"Very good bulk quality and honest lead times. I would like the saltwater range expanded, but everything we do stock sells quickly."
Marta Silveira
"We compared their size 14 Adams against two European brands at double the price. Ours sold faster because the hackle sits better."
Neil Pemberton
"Ordered 1,200 dozen mixed drys for a distributor in Dubai. Packing was export-grade and not one carton was crushed."
Yusuf Al-Harbi
"Their team quoted landed cost to Mombasa, cleared the paperwork and shipped in the same week. That is rare with fly suppliers."
Beatrice Wairimu
"The barbless range is now the only barbless we carry. Guides buy it by the hundred because the points hold on hard takes."
Owen Trent
"Bulk pricing that still leaves room for retail margin. We moved from 30% to 46% markup on flies without raising shop prices."
Hannah Delacroix
"Custom colours on the Woolly Bugger for our club order, matched to a Pantone swatch. They nailed it on the first attempt."
Dennis Achieng
"Two years, nine shipments, zero short counts. For a wholesale account that is the whole review."
Irene Karanja
"Solid flies, clean tying, good prices. Freight to Chile took a week longer than quoted, but the paperwork was flawless."
Rodrigo Ferreira
"Their egg patterns survive a whole steelhead season on the Salmon River. The chenille does not unravel after a dozen fish."
Tanya Brooks
"We buy 200 dozen jig flies a quarter for a chain of three shops. Sizing is measured, not eyeballed."
Peter Kimotho
"They agreed to tie a local Lake Victoria pattern from a hand sketch. It out-fished everything else we had that week."
Samuel Ouma
"The sample pack convinced our buying committee. Twelve patterns, all fishable, and the invoice matched the quote to the cent."
Elaine Whitaker
"Chemically sharpened hooks, not just claimed. We tested 300 flies for point failure and found two, both from my own bad storage."
Mark Vandenberg
"Shipping to Vancouver is normally a headache. Their DDP option landed the cartons at our door with nothing to chase."
Fiona MacLeod
"Our guide service orders every February. Fifteen dozen per guide, labelled per guide. It saves us a full day of sorting."
Tobias Lindqvist
"Their pheasant tails and hares ears are the neatest bulk nymphs we have stocked. No loose dubbing, no glue streaks."
Amina Hassan
"The wholesale portal makes reordering a two-minute job instead of an email chain. Small thing, big time saver."
Graham Stiles
"Great value overall. The midge range needs more size 22 options, but the 18s are perfect."
Sofia Lindgren
"We resell to four camps in Alaska. Their flies hold up to guests who have never cast before, which says everything about durability."
Curtis Nakamura
"The clousers came with proper lead eyes, not painted plastic. That detail alone decided our repeat order."
Ibrahim Suleiman
"Bulk order of 60 dozen CDC emergers, all with even fibres and no crushed quills. Quality control is real here."
Nadia Petrova
"They shipped a replacement carton after the courier dropped one, before we had even finished photographing the damage."
Michael Osei
"We asked for fly-box-ready dozen packs for a corporate gift order. They built the packaging and hit the deadline."
Laura Fitzgerald
"Their price list has not moved in 18 months, which let us plan margins properly for the first time."
Joseph Kipchoge
"The intruder patterns we get here are tied tight and swing straight. Steelheaders in our area ask for them by name."
Bradley Cooper
"Sample dozen of the San Juan worms was fished hard for a month before we placed the real order. Not one fell apart."
Mercy Nyambura
"Dependable supplier with clear communication. I would score five if the online stock levels updated live."
Peter Nyaga
"Our order of 300 dozen arrived with every fly in its own compartment box. Retail-ready without extra labour."
Claire Beaumont
"Custom size 6 hoppers with our shop logo printed on the box. Customers thought we had started tying in-house."
Victor Mutiso
"We ship to Norway, so hook quality is everything in salt air. Zero rust complaints across two seasons."
Anders Haugen
"Their bulk quote for our five-year supply contract beat three local tenders and the audit passed without a note."
Grace Achieng
"The foam beetle bodies are properly sealed. They float for a full day guiding, not twenty casts."
Ryan Devereux
"Two of our guides fished the whole sample pack against their own boxes. They now order their personal flies here too."
Anita Mwangi
"Their custom streamer heads are balanced, so the fly tracks straight instead of spinning. That is not common at this price."
Stefan Novak
"Good communication and fair pricing. A few of the size 10 woolly buggers had slightly long tails, but they fished fine."
Rebecca Achieng
"We ordered 80 dozen for a charity tournament. Every fly was fishable and the delivery landed a day early."
Liam Kavanagh
"They hold stock of our three best-selling patterns year round. Reordering on a Friday and restocking Monday is normal now."
Fatuma Ali
"Bulk account setup was painless and the invoices are export-ready. Our accountant no longer queries them."
Nikhil Mehta
"The midge and buzzer range is what we buy most. Tied sparse, which is how fish actually take them."
Sarah Okonkwo
"They price per dozen, per hundred and per thousand, so we can scale a promotion without renegotiating."
Hamish Bell
"Our lodge shop opened with their starter consignment of 100 dozen. It sold out in six weeks with no discounting."
Judy Wambui
"Order got held at customs and their team sent the documents again within the hour. That is what a supplier should be."
Alejandro Ruiz
"Ten gross of assorted trout flies, all labelled by pattern and size. Stocktaking took an afternoon instead of a weekend."
Bethany Cole
"Very good supplier. Only note is that size 8 streamers pack tighter than size 6, but the quality is consistent."
Kevin Omondi
